If I outsource everything to you, won’t I lose my job?

Hardly!  You are one of the most important people at the company.  Using the SingleSource systems now allows you to be more strategic.  You can focus on things that make a difference directly to the bottom line such as succession planning, management development, training, safety issues, employee relations and much, much more!

Do I have to take all your services at once?

No, you can choose one, or choose many, depending on what your needs are.  Our business development team will work with you to structure the services to be specific to you, today.  We don’t make you purchase anything.

What if I only want to try out one product?

Which one?  You choose.  That will be a hard choice, we know that too.  We are happy to start off slow with you, again customizing our system to meet your specific needs.

Do I get a discount if I purchase more than one service from you?

Yes, we offer multiple service discounts on all our services.  You can save even more if you let SingleSource conduct your employment verifications for you.  If your volume is high enough, you might bring in enough so that our services are free!

I am not very technical and am concerned that I might get overwhelmed or confused using your system.

Not to worry.  Every account is assigned an account representative who can hold your hand through any or all of the system.

Is it true you answer your own telephones?

Yes it is!  Please call and say hello!

What kind of long term commitment do I need to make in order to use your services?

None.  You sign an agreement with us, but there is never any contract.  If you are unhappy with our services, though we doubt you ever will be, you are free to leave at any time.  The only exception to this is the Legal Helpline®, as this is a one-year commitment.

Loading verification information seems like it would take a lot of time.

Actually it does not.  You have three options on how to load the data.  First is through a secure web site where you can upload a spreadsheet as often as you want to.  That would be less than 5 minutes each time that you did it.  Option 2 is that we take a direct feed from your payroll system, whether that is internal or extrenal.  (Obviously our payroll customers have a direct feed into the system.)  Option three is that you can send us a direct feed from your HRIS/HRMS.  With options 2 and 3, once you have it set up to update our files, there is no additional effort on your part.


I am a very good interviewer. Why would I need this tool?

Every professional can use all the tools available, to make the assessment of the candidate that much more complete.  We are not implying that you can or cannot get this information, but why not use the easiest and fastest way to get this accomplished? 

We believe in coaching after we hire someone. Can this tool help us with that?

Absolutely!  The tool even gives you suggested coaching ideas once completed.

Background Screening

I check references. Why would that not be enough?

We believe that in collecting all relevant data as you assess a candidate, you want to have as much information as possible. This next employee will have access to virtually everything in your company, including other staff members and your customers. Wouldn’t it be good information to know he is a convicted criminal for embezzlement or fraud?

99% of the time you are probably right. Some people are dishonest. The safer thing to do is to check, then you know you have asked every question you can. Besides, by checking, it is one more layer to protect you from exposure and liability in the case of a bad hire.

Why do I need to do County Criminal Checks when there is a national database?

There is no such search as a national criminal database. The nearest thing to it is the FBI’s NCIC database but even if you had access to it, you would be looking at arrests. There are some results of those arrests but mainly its’ purpose is for law enforcement. That said the database is mandated by some states for some occupations, such as child or healthcare agencies. Other databases are not national – they are multi jurisdictional. They contain data from most states but the amount of data and the sources are different across the nation and are by no means comprehensive. Because they are databases the data is not “the most current” required by law and so a search to verify any records found must be made at the source of the arrest usually a county.

Drug Screening

I believe most people are good at heart. Why should we bother testing if they have a good interview?

Do I need to have a random drug testing procedure in place?

We can’t answer that for you.  You know your business and the risks that go along with that.  We recommend it for most, but you have to decide.

What is Adulteration?

The intentional tampering with a urine sample by the donor to avoid detection of illicit drug use.  Successful adulteration produces a false-negative test result.  We provide STAT products that will detect adulterants in human urine.

NOTE: The above chart gives approximate detection periods for each substance by test type.  The ranges depend on amount and frequency of use, metabolic rate, body mass, age, overall health, drug tolerance, and urine pH.


Who designs the survey?

We work with you on the questions and we design it together.

Surveys are expensive. Why would I want to do one?

Turnover is also expensive.  With one turnover costing you anywhere from 1.5 to 4 times their annual salary to replace one employee, you have to decide what is best for you.


How often do you purge the information?

We never purge it.  So not only do we compile it for you, we give you a very easy tool to use to make comparisons at various points in time, or you compare departments, supervisors, or any other demographic you would like us to track.

Exit Interviews

Do your interviewers interpret what is being said by my ex-employee?

No, they simply document the conversation.  They may paraphrase, if the ex-employee is going on and on, but they will not inject their personal thoughts or interpretations.  They check with the ex-employee at the end of the question, to assure accuracy.

How long does it take to conduct an interview?

Typically 15 minutes, give or take.  It depends on how you designed the questions, and on how much they choose to tell us.


I can do this myself. Why do you have a higher success rate?

People open up more to someone they don’t know.  We are a third party, neutral interviewer, taking down data anonymously.  We pose no threat to the ex-employee.


Do you call terminated or laid off employees?

It is up to you, but we do not recommend it.  The data we get from them may not be reliable.


Why can’t I just have them do this over the Internet.

You can, and we can facilitate that for you, getting the portal set up, and collecting the answers for you. 


What do you do if you get a hot item, like someone is using drugs, or stealing from us?

Our operator will call you with any type of red flag like that.  We don’t wait and hope that you find that answer.

WOTC Tax Credit

How much are the incentives worth?

Up to $9000 per employee.

What percent of my employee population typically qualifies for the program?

On average, 20% of your employee base will qualify.  This goes up if you business is in an empowerment zone and for certain types of industries.

Is there any financial risk?

No, since this is contingency based. 

Do you only work at the state level for these credits?

As a complete service provider, TaxBreak researches all federal, state and local tax credits and incentives to insure your company’s tax credit potential is reached.

Do we have instant access to an attorney?

Your first contact can be a phone call.  If an attorney is available, that person will speak with you then.  If you have to leave a message, or submit a request via email, an attorney will call you back within 24 hours.

My company is getting sued. Can I still sign up and use the services?

Hopefully you will have sought advice before a lawsuit develops, but if this situation arises, you will need to get local representation. 


I am a consultant. Can I sign up and use your service for my clients?

One of the major benefits of this program is that any discussion creates a client attorney privilege and is not discoverable. Therefore, each of your clients will need to subscribe to their own account to preserve that privilege.

Can I ask any question?

You may ask any question as long as it relates to Human Resources related issues.
